What is it?
The Global Leadership Summit is catalyzing Christians and mobilizing churches globally by casting vision and providing leadership training to bring about transformation in their communities. GLS is breaking down the barriers between marketplace, government, church and academia. The impact of the GLS is undeniable. In 2018, an estimated 445,000 people will participate in the Summit around the world, and by 2020, we expect the movement to reach over 500,000 people. This year alone, over ten thousand Canadians will expand their influence by attending the event through our GLS Premier Host Sites.
Why we do it
We’re convinced that leadership is critical to church vitality. A church’s effectiveness in pursuing its God-given mission is largely dependent on the character, devotion and skill of its leadership core—which can be formal or informal, staff or volunteer, clergy or laity. The influence and impact of the church are felt most fully when Christ-centred leaders are at the forefront of establishing and growing well-led local churches and organizations…key reasons why The Global Leadership Summit exists. The church is at its best, as God’s love and care inevitably spill out into our neighbourhoods, towns and cities through acts of love, justice, mercy, service and restoration.
A Little Bit of History
Founded in 1992, Willow Creek Association (WCA) in Chicago is the organization behind The Global Leadership Summit. In the late 90s, Willow joined The Leadership Centre in Canada and officially formed The Leadership Centre Willow Creek Canada. Willow Creek Canada partners with local churches to bring the GLS to Canadians each year.
Serving Leaders Worldwide
We’re also privileged to serve alongside 7,000 member churches in the Willow Creek Association, representing more than 90 denominations and networks, training leaders in 90 countries. Over the course of a year 18,000 churches engage with the Summit.
